STAINLESS STEEL SINK
QUALITY: Our high quality sinks are made with 304, 18 gauge 18/10
stainless steel. In metals the lower the gauge numbers the thicker and
more durable the steel. The 18/10 number is the chrome/nickel content of
the steel. This is very important to the lustre and rust proofing of
the steel. All of the best sinks are 18/10. There are many manufacturers
that use 18/8. This does provide a reduced cost, but these sinks will
not hold their shine like 18/10.
SINK FINISH: Polished / Brushed
Stainless Steel. Our sinks have a polished top surface and a brushed
internal finish, also called a hairline or matte finish. This is
preferred by most fabricators because scratches do not stand out as much
as they would on a polished or mirrored finish.
SINK THICKNESS:
The gauge is the thickness of the stainless steel. It is important to
remember that the lower the gauge, the thicker the stainless steel. Our
thickest, sturdiest bowls are 16 gauge (commercial grade), our high
quality bowl is 18 gauge and our standard bowl is 20 gauge. These extra
thick sinks do a great job of resisting dents, and quietening water
flow.
SINK SOUNDPROOFING: Another way to check whether a sink is
high quality is to look at the underneath of the sink. The underside of
our high quality sinks has been specially coated with Stoneguard and
rubber pads, acting as the "soundproofing" of the sink. This helps to
reduce the "pinging" of the sink and the undercoating also prevents
condensation on the bottom side of the sink.
SINK WASTE: Unlike
other companies, The Stone Super Store provides the necessary Australian
Standard stainless steel 114mm waste with every compatible sink
purchase.
SINK TEMPLATE: A template for this model can be provided on request. This may save you additional costs on installation, as most bench top companies will require a template to mount an undermount sink.
