Cabinet Checklist
CABINETRY REQUIREMENTS IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Please note that all granite countertops are designed to sit on top of the cabinet carcase and all doors should be fitted to the full height of the cabinet.
THICKNESS:
Granite slabs are 20mm +/- 1mm (19-21mm) in thickness. Beware of thinner granites as these are generally not strong enough and may lead to cracking...
EDGE DETAIL:
Our standard granite edge details are:
40mm Square
40mm Bullnose
20mm Square
20mm Round
However other edge details are available upon request.
UNDERSTRIP:
Unlike most companies we off a larger granite under strip of 65mm (as per detail below). This gives the granite slab a solid 65mm x 40mm thick edge at the front which means less chance of cracking (especially around the areas of the sink and hotplate)
PACKER:
We will pack up the kitchen carcase with 42x19 MDF packers at NO EXTRA COST to affix granite as per detail below (other companies charge up to $300).
DOORS:
DO NOT DROP DOWN DOORS MORE THAN 5mm from the top of the carcase…
Ask your cabinet maker to allow for a 40mm thick postform top and you will have no problems.
RAILS:
All rails shall be installed on edge… (THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR THE SINK AND HOTPLATE CABINETS). We will fit stone to cabinets with rails fitted on the flat, but our product will not be guaranteed.
BREAKFAST BAR:
If you have decided on a 40mm edge detail it is advised that the panels fitted to the rear of island cabinets are extended 20mm above the carcase, otherwise MDF packers will be seen. Any bench top which requires an overhang, has the standard 65mm under strip, unless you specify for a granite infill panel to return to carcase (up to 300mm).
END PANELS:
End panels have the standard 65mm under strip. An infill panel will need to be manufactured by the cabinetmaker unless you specify for a granite infill panel to return to carcase (up to 300mm).
TEMPLATES:
Once cabinets are installed we will pick-up and check, or manufacture templates. We charge a very small fee of $275 to manufacture or check templates.
This option is highly recommended as if we manufacture templates ANY
problems with sizes or jobs not fitting will be at our expense. The
customer will be responsible for the cost for any problems on templates
supplied by them and not checked by us.
Cabinetry will also be checked at this point.
CABINETS MUST BE FLAT OTHERWISE GRANITE WILL NOT BE INSTALLED
